Kathy Kallick Band - Warmer Kind of BlueThe new Kathy Kallick Band release, Warmer Kind Of Blue (Copper Creek Records), is the first one recorded with fiddler Brian Wicklund as an official band member. It contains eight powerful and evocative Kathy compositions, hot new tunes from Tom and Avram, Amy’s glorious treatments of Jake Landers and Don Gibson songs, tasty fiddling throughout from Brian, and distinctive versions of classic songs learned from Jimmy Martin, the Carter Family, and Hank Williams.

Track Information

  1. Friend Of Mine (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI) Lyrics
After years of playing music for kids, we’ve come to know that a person’s never too old for a song about good behavior.
  2. The Messenger (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI)  Lyrics
  3. Hey, Hey, Hey (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI) Lyrics
Everybody fought over who got to sing on the song with the bad word.
  4. A Warmer Kind Of Blue (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI) Lyrics
  5. Late Last Night (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI) Lyrics
  6. Metropolis Blues (Tom Bekeny, Old Red Mandolin Pub. Co./BMI)
  7. This Last Request (Jacob Landers/BMI) Lyrics
Amy sings this for her Mom and Dad, with love and thanks for giving her a green thumb and sweet peas.
  8. Burn Down The House (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI) Lyrics
  9. That’s How I Can Count On You (Shorty Long & Bob Newman, Mamy Music/BMI) Lyrics
Once in a while, there’s a happy song that flat-out gets it, like this one from Kathy’s hero, Jimmy Martin.
  10. Just One Time (Don Gibson, Sony/ATV-Acuff Rose/BMI) Lyrics
Grab your partner, get an egg coffee, and polka to this Don Gibson classic.
  11. A Dirty Riff (Avram Siegel, Twistyriff/BMI)
  12. Honky Tonk Blues (Hank Williams, Sony/ATV-Acuff Rose/BMI) Lyrics
This song carried over from the Good Ol’ Persons repertoire. Always fun to play and sing and, after years of jamming on it in the van, the ensemble parts are pretty tasty.
  13. Still (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI) Lyrics
  14. God Gave Noah The Rainbow Sign (Traditional, arr. Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI)  Lyrics
Carter Family, Flatt & Scruggs, Global Warming, Rock & Roll, eek!
  15. In The Middle Of My Town (Kathy Kallick, Red Shirt Pub. Co./BMI)  Lyrics
This song was inspired by Alice Sebol’s book, The Lovely Bones , though not everyone will feel the connection between the two. Still, who doesn’t love to think of those who have passed inhabiting the space all around us?
